Bhadrak: In a tragic incident, a youth set to get married succumbed to Covid-19 just four days before his scheduled marriage on June 18.

The deceased has been identified as Chandramani Nath (28) of Nath Sahi in Asurali area under Kothar panchayat of Bhadrak district.

As per available information, the wedding was initially fixed on June 11 but postponed to June 18 after Chandramani developed cold and fever.

While the invitation cards were distributed and all the pre-wedding rituals were initiated, the youth, who was in home isolation and was having medicines on the advice of the doctors at AIIMS developed breathing issues following which a doctor was called upon for check-up on June 13.

However, the next day, his oxygen saturation drastically fell and while we were preparing to shift him to hospital, he passed away.

Meanwhile, hit by stigma related to the deadly disease, no one from the village came forward to conduct his last rites. Later, the sarpanch and a medical team from the district administration conducted his funeral wearing PPE kits.
