Youth loses Rs 3.15 lakh to lottery fraud in Koraput


Koraput: In a hope to get lottery amount of Rs 25 lakh as cash prize, a youth hailing from Maliguda area of Koraput district was duped of Rs 3.15 lakh after being lured by a conman.

According to sources, the victim, identified as Bhimsen Gouda, had received a phone call from an unknown number who introduced himself as Rana Pratap Singh informing him that he had won a lottery of Rs 25 lakh.

The accused man then asked Gouda to deposit the tax of the total amount of the cash prize. Failing to realise that this was a scam, Gouda deposited a sum of Rs 3.15 lakh in different bank accounts provided by the conman.

Gouda came to know that he has been cheated on the pretext of receiving a cash prize after the accused demanded more money to in order to get the lottery prize. Later, he approached the local police station and lodged a complaint in this regard.
