Nuapada: A youth was critically injured after being attacked by a leopard in Nuapada district on Saturday evening.
The victim has been identified as Senapati Majhi from Hirapur village under the Sinapalli forest range.
According to reports, the incident took place while Senapati had gone to a forest area on the outskirts of the village to attend to nature’s call in the evening when the leopard pounced on him. However, Senapati somehow managed to get himself free from its jaws and ran for his life.
Some locals rushed him to the community health centre (CHC) at Sinapalli in an ambulance. Later he was shifted to Nuapada hospital for better and advanced treatment.
Upon being informed, the forest department officials have reached the spot and started an investigation.
