Youth held for “raping” minor girl in moving train


Rourkela: Police have apprehended a youth for allegedly raping a minor girl from Ranchi on a moving train. The accused, Samrat Seikh from Alapuri area of West Bengal, was arrested and presented before the Sundargarh Pocso Court.

According to sources, the shocking incident occurred while Samrat was going to Howrah from Mumbai in LTT-Howrah Express and the minor girl from Ranchi was also returning from Mumbai along with her family members.  However, when the family members of the minor girl fell asleep the youth started groping her and misbehaved with her.  Besides, it is also alleged that the youth raped the girl repeatedly on the evening of November 28.

However, while the minor girl screamed for help while the accused attempted to molest her again the next morning. Hearing the girl’s cry for help, co-passengers and her family members rescued her and thrashed the youth before handing him over to the railway police.

After the minor girl filed a police complaint at Ranchi, the case was forwarded to the Rourkela railway police. The accused was then arrested and forwarded to the Pocso court. After Samrat’s bail plea was rejected, he was sent to jail.
