Puri: Police on Tuesday arrested a youth from Taharapur in Puri for trying to defraud people by impersonating as Puri SP. The arrested accused has been identified as Manoj Sahu, a native of Jajpur.
Manoj had created a fake Facebook account in the name of Puri SP Kanwar Vishal Singh. He was demanding money from several individuals on the pretext of providing a job.
After receiving information about the incident through a telephone call, the accused was arrested on the basis of Puri Cyber Case No. 25 and forwarded to the court.
A team led by Town PS IIC Gokula Ranjan Das managed to trace the youth and arrest him.
Puri Police has requested the people to report such a fake calls or messages immediately on the cyber helpline number-6370967100.
