Cuttack: A youth was allegedly hacked to death over a land dispute at Salepur in Cuttack district yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Satyaprakash Mallick of Machuati village in Salepur.
Reportedly, the incident took place while Satyaprakash was returning from Salepur market. Meanwhile, an assailant, suspected to be a minor, attacked him with a sharp weapon. An unprepared Mallick could not resist the attack.
Though Mallick was rushed to the hospital and was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital for treatment, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
Following this, the family member of the deceased lodged a complaint at the local police station.
On the basis of the FIR, police detained the accused minor and his mother for questioning. A case has been registered in this regard.
