Youth Climbs Atop Srimandir: Temple Police served notice by SJTA

Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) today served a notice to three personnel of Jagannath Temple Police (JTP) after a minor had recently climbed atop ‘Nilachakra’ of Puri Srimandir.

The SJTA in the notice has asked the personnel to reply within 15 days. In default, action would be taken against them as per the Shree Jagannath Temple Act, 1955.

Notably, on April 20, a mentally-challenged youth from Bhadrak climbed atop ‘Nilachakra’ of Puri Srimandir and tied his ‘gamuchha’ (cotton towel) to the Nilachakra in place after removing the holy flag.

The youth was later detained by the temple cops.
