Phulbani: A blood-soaked body of a young woman was found from roadside under Raikia police station limits in Kandhamal district on Friday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Ranjita Pradhan of Budhianga village.
According to reports, on Thursday, Ranjita had gone to Phulbani due to some work but did not return to her house.
Following this, her family member tried to contact her but in vain. Later, they launched a frantic search, however, they found her body lying in a pool of blood near Dadangia roadside on Friday morning and alerted the police about the same.
On being informed, police reached the spot and recovered the body for post-mortem.
Though the exact reason behind the death is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the girl might have been raped and murdered by some miscreants. Further investigation is underway in this regard.
