Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed the concerns of residents in Pantnagar, Indraprastha Nagar, Rahimnagar, and other areas in the state capital, who were worried about misleading reports regarding the demolition of their houses. He assured them that the state government is committed to ensuring their safety and peaceful living.
The Chief Minister clarified that the floodplain zone of the river has been marked according to NGT orders, which include private land. However, there is no current proposal to vacate or demolish private buildings on private lands. He acknowledged that the signs placed on buildings during the floodplain zone markings have caused fear and confusion, and emphasized that accountability should be established for this.
Yogi Adityanath also issued instructions to improve cleanliness and public facilities in the affected areas and directed officials to visit the areas, meet with residents, and alleviate their concerns. He assured that any building on private land within the riverbed development zone with certified private ownership would only be acquired with proper compensation.
The marking of the floodplain zone by the Irrigation Department is part of efforts to revive the Kukrail River and make it pollution-free, in line with the National Mission for Clean Ganga.
