World No Tobacco Day: Sudarsan Pattnaik sculpts sand art to spread awareness


Puri: On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day today, Internationally acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik created a sand sculpture on Puri Sea beach with an aim to aware public about the outcome of using tobacco.

Pattnaik created the mural with a message “No Tobacco Save life”.



The WNTD is observed around the world on May 31 every year since 1987. It is intended to encourage abstinence from all forms of tobacco consumption around the globe.

Each year, the World Health Organization (WHO) selects a theme for the day in order to create a more unified global message for WNTD.

The focus of World No Tobacco Day 2019 is on “tobacco and lung health.” The campaign will increase awareness on: the negative impact that tobacco has on people’s lung health, from cancer to chronic respiratory disease, the fundamental role lungs play for the health and well-being of all people.
