World No 1 Kento Momota Wins All-Japan Badminton Championship
Tokyo: Badminton world number one Kento Momota won the All-Japan championship after he outclassed Kanta Tsuneyama with 18-21, 21-12, 21-17 scoreline here on Sunday.
With this, Momota completed the first step of his comeback nearly a year after suffering serious injuries in a car crash.
This is also the third straight national title for Momota.
Worth mentioning, Momota was badly hurt in January when the vehicle taking him to the airport crashed.
Momota is one of Japan’s brightest hopes for a gold medal on home soil at the coronavirus-postponed Tokyo Games next year.
The 26-year-old left-hander had won a record-breaking 11 titles in 2019.
