New Delhi: Four Indian boxers including five-time world champion MC Mary Kom entered the semifinal in the ongoing 10th AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships.
The four boxers are MC Mary Kom, Lovlina, Sonia and Simranjeet Kaur. They won their respective bouts in quarterfinals and assured themselves a medal.
With this, the five-time world champion M C Mary Kom set a global record by assuring herself of a 7th World Championship medal.
Lovlina posted the most impressive win in the welterweight division against 2018 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Kaye Scott of Australia. Lovlina will next meet Chinese Taipei Nien-Chin in the semifinal.
Sonia overwhelmed Colombia’s Yeni Castenada with a 4-1 score and entered the semifinal. And, Simranjeet Kaur continued her run with 3-1 win over Amy Broadhurst of Broadhurst of Ireland.
