World Biofuel Day: Sudarsan Pattnaik pledges to promote the environment-friendly energy source

Puri: On the occasion of World Biofuel Day today, internationally acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik created a sand sculpture at Puri sea beach to generate awareness through art.

Pledging to promote and adopt Biofuels to create wealth from waste, the artist took to the microblogging site Twitter to share pictures of his mural that was inscribed with “Swaach Indhan, Swaach Environment” along with a backdrop of city life.

Every year on 10 August, World Biofuel Day is observed to create awareness about fossil fuels as an alternative to conventional fossil fuels and highlight the various efforts made by the government in the biofuel sector.

This year the theme of the World Biofuel Day is “Production of Biodiesel from Used Cooking Oil (UCO)”

Biofuels have the benefit of reduction of import dependence, a cleaner environment, additional income to farmers and employment generation.
