New Delhi: Javelin thrower Annu Rani qualified for her second consecutive finals in the World Championships in Oregon on Thursday.

She finished fifth in the Group B qualification round and made it to the finals as eighth best across the two groups.

Annu began her campaign with a foul throw and 55.35m in her second try but in her final attempt, she sent her spear merely 40cm short of the 60m mark to secure a berth in the finals.

Annu Rani, who is a national record holder, will have to improve her performance in the Saturday’s final to win a medal for the country.

Her personal best is 63.82 – those who threw over 62.50m in the qualification earned an automatic entry into the final.
