Woman’s half-burnt body found; murder suspected
Angul: The half-burnt body of a widow woman was recovered near Talcher NTPC plant boundary wall at Rangabeda village in Angul district on Monday.
The deceased, identified as Sabita Nayak of Rangabeda village had married in Kiajhar village in 2010. However, after her husband died in 2011 she started staying with her parents in Rangabeda village.
The matter came to the fore after Sabita’s family members spotted her half-burnt body near NTPC boundary. The family members then alerted the matter to the police.
On being informed, police visited the spot and seized the body. The body was sent for post-mortem.
According to preliminary investigation, police suspect that she might was murdered and later set on fire. It is suspected that the miscreants might have brought Sabita’s body here after killing her and set it ablaze.
However, the actual reason behind the death will be ascertained after receiving the post-mortem report, said a police official.
