Woman tourist from West Bengal raped in Odisha’s Balasore

Bhograi: A woman tourist from West Bengal, who had come to Digha Beach, was allegedly raped in a lodge at Chandaneswar area in Balasore district last night.

The victim has lodged a complaint with Talasari Marine Police Station in this regard.

According to reports, the woman tourist, a native of West Bengal, had come on a vacation to Digha Beach yesterday. After spending the day at the beach, she reached the nearby railway station in the evening. But, she failed to find any train to the neighbouring state and decided to spend some time in the railway station till she finds the next train to her native place.

In the meanwhile, a man, who is yet to be identified, approached her and offered accommodation at his house for the night. However, instead of taking the woman to his home, the man took her to a lodge and outraged her modesty.

Today morning, the victim reached the Talasari Marine Police Station and lodged a complaint, based on which, the cops initiated a probe.

Reportedly, the police have detained the manager of the lodge for interrogation. However, no arrest has been made so far as the police are yet to find a clue about the accused man.
