Phulbani: A woman sustained bullet injuries on her head after a poacher mistakenly fired at her in Ranjakumpha forest in Kandhamal district.
The victim identified as Jayanti (50), wife of Pabitra Kanhar, hailing from Chhandura village under Khajuripada police station limits. She has been admitted to MKCG hospital at Berhampur in critical condition.
According to reports, the woman was returning home with her husband after collecting firewood from the forest when suddenly a bullet hit her head.
It is being suspected that some poachers lurking in the forest area might have shot her, sources said.
Khajuripada police have also taken up an investigation in this regard.
