Phulbani: A day before the second phase elections, a woman polling supervisor was reportedly gunned down by suspected Maoists in Kandhamal district.
The deceased was identified as Sanjukta Diggal. She was a Gram Rojgar Sevak (GRS) and was on election duty.
The incident took place at Balandapara of Gochhapada tehsil in the Maoist-infested Kandhamal district.
“Sanjukta was travelling with four colleagues in a car when the Maoists triggered a landmine explosion. Subsequently, bullets were fired by Maoists,” sector officer Prakash Das said.
