Woman poll candidate’s obscene video goes viral, two arrested


Keonjhar: Police on Wednesday arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in circulating obscene videos of a woman poll candidate on social media.

The accused have been identified as Jayadev Giri, a member of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Keonjhar district unit, and his associate Bishnudutta Barik.

According to sources, objectionable videos and photographs of the women poll candidate have been doing rounds on various social media platforms since a few days. Following this, the victim’s maternal uncle have lodged a complaint with the police today.

In the meanwhile, the victim has stated the video to be fake and deliberately made viral by the accused persons in order to tarnish her political image.

Acting on the complaint, cops initiated a probe and apprehended two persons in this regard.

While the accused duo is being interrogated in police custody further investigation into the case is on, sources in the police said.
