Keonjhar: A woman and her minor daughter met with watery grave in a pond at Jamupasi Sahi under Jamujodi panchayat in Harichandanpur block of Keonjhar district.
The deceased were identified as Draupadai Nayak (40), the wife of Basudeb Nayak, and their daughter Rinki Nayak (6).
The duo had gone to take a path at a pond near their house but did not return home. Following this, Draupadi’s elder daughter searched for them and found her mother’s body floating in the water.
Though villagers retrieved Draupadi’s body but they were not able to trace her daughter Rinki.
On being informed, fire brigade rushed to the spot and retrieved the body of the minor girl after hours of ordeal.
The bodies were seized by Harichandanpur Police and sent for post-mortem.
