Jhursuguda: A woman was killed while another person sustained critical injuries in a road mishap near Belpahar College gate in Jharsuguda district late last night.
The deceased has been identified as Panka Kumbhar (41) and the injured was identified as Sikandar Panday (52).
According to reports, the incident occurred while the duo was returning home late at night when a speeding car hit them from the rear. However, the accused fled the spot soon after the incident.
On being informed, police reached the spot and rushed the injured persons to a nearby hospital where Panka was declared dead by the doctors while Sikandar’s health condition was said to be critical.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the identity of the accused involved in this connection.
