Mayurbhanj: An elderly woman and her granddaughter were killed while the latter’s mother was critical in an elephant attack at Dudhkundi village in Bisoi block of Mayurbhanj district on Saturday.
The deceased have been identified as Dhani Bindhani and her 10-year-old granddaughter Meghna Bindhani.
As per reports, the incident took place while the trio had gone to the forest to collect firewood and leaves when a tusker suddenly attacked them. While Dhani and Meghna died on the spot, Kandri sustained grievous injuries and was admitted to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
On receiving information, police reached the spot and recovered the body for post-mortem. Further investigation is underway in this regard.
