Hyderabad: The premiere of “Pushpa 2” in Hyderabad turned tragic on December 4 at the Sandhya Theatre, as a large crowd gathered to see Allu Arjun, leading to a stampede-like situation.
A 39-year-old woman died, and her son is in critical condition. Arjun made an unexpected appearance at the event, flanked by substantial security and police presence.
Revathi, 39, from Dilsukhnagar, attended the premiere at Sandhya 70mm theatre with her husband Bhaskar and their two children, Sri Tej, 9, and Sanvika, 7.
As Allu Arjun arrived, fans surged into the theatre to see him. In the ensuing chaos, Revathi and her son Sri Tej were rendered unconscious. They were rushed to Durga Bhai Deshmukh Hospital in Vidyanagar.
Revathi was pronounced dead upon arrival, while Sri Tej, critically ill, was moved to KIMS Hospital in Begumpet.
Later, Revathi’s body was transferred from Durga Bhai Deshmukh Hospital to the Gandhi Mortuary.
The chaos peaked around 10:30 pm on Wednesday when Allu Arjun appeared, causing a stampede as the police attempted to control the crowd.
Post-screening, Allu Arjun exited the venue amidst tight security. He waved to his fans through the sunroof, asking them to make way for the traffic.
