Woman burnt alive by youth & kin for asking loan money in Kendrapara
Kendrapara: A woman was allegedly burnt alive by a youth and his family members after she asked the latter to repay an amount which she had lent him.
The incident has been reported from Dhaniapada village under Marshaghai police limits in Kendrapara district.
The deceased has been identified as Subhadra Behera (33) of the same village.
According to sources, Subhadra had given Rs 50,000 to one Biswajit Swain of the village. Following this, Subhadra went to Biswajit’s house last night seeking repayment of the amount.
However, Biswajit refused to repay the money and an altercation ensued between the duo. Later, Biswajit and his family members allegedly poured kerosene on the woman and set her on fire.
After hearing the screams of Subhadra villagers rescued her and admitted her at the District Headquarters Hospital. She was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack where she succumbed while undergoing treatment.
Following the incident, the brother of the deceased has lodged a complaint at the police station.
Based on the complaint police have started an investigation into the incident and have launched a manhunt to nab Biswajit who is reportedly absconding after the incident.
