Woman axed to death by brother-in-law in Mayurbhanj village


Mayurbhanj: A 30-year-old woman was axed to death allegedly by her brother-in-law at Paktia village under Jharpokharia block in Mayurbhanj district on Monday.

The matter came to light after the accused, Jagannath Nayak, brother-in-law of deceased Sukadebi Nayak, surrendered before the police today.

According to sources, Sukadebi and her brother-in-law had frequent quarrels over money. An argument ensued between the duo last night over selling paddy. In a fit of rage, Jagannath attacked the woman with an axe killing her on the spot.

The accused has been arrested and a case was registered against him under relevant Sections of the IPC, sources in police said.
