Bhubaneswar: A woman from Jagatsinghpur district allegedly attempted self-immolation near the Odisha Assembly on Thursday.
As per preliminary reports, the woman, who hails from Kujang block of Jagatsinghpur district, allegedly attempted to end her life by pouring petrol on herself near Jayadev Bhawan auditorium. A police team overpowered and rescued her.
However, the exact reason behind the woman’s immolation bid is unclear.
This is the second suicide attempt played out near the State Assembly in the past 24 hours.
