Woman arrested for circulating fake currency notes

Dhenkanal: Police arrested a woman, said to be a former Sarpanch, on charges of circulating fake currency notes in Dhenkanal district.

The accused has been identified as Mamata Sahu of Narsinghpur area in Dhenkanal district and was staying as a tenant in Hindola area.

According to available reports, the accused woman handed nearly Rs 11,000 to a businessman here. Suspecting fraud, the businessman immediately alerted the police about the same. Hindola police arrived at at the spit and detained the woman before seizing the fake currency notes.

After being grilled, the accused confessed to running the fake currency notes racket.

Police have launched a probe into the transaction of fake notes, sources said.
