Wings of BJP, Congress protest over Puri gang rape case, several workers detained
Bhubaneswar: The BJP Mahila Morcha activists continued to turn their heat on the recent Puri gang rape case and tried to barge into Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik’s residence today demanding action against the accused persons.
As per reports, this led to a scuffle between the Mahila Morcha activists and police, who had a tough time controlling the protestors.
Demanding immediate action against the accused persons, many activists of the BJP women wing while heading towards Naveen Niwas was intercepted by cops and a scuffle broke out.
Later, the activists were taken into preventive custody by the police.
On the other hand, protesting the Puri gang rape case members of National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Indian National Congress hurled tomatoes at the residence of Minister of State for Home, Dibya Shankar Mishra, demanding his ouster from the post.
Moreover, the agitators have also threatened to hurl eggs at Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and demanded his resignation too.
Meanwhile, over 20 agitators were detained by police to maintain law and order situation in the area.
