WHO praises India for containing COVID cases

New Delhi: World Health Organisation (WHO) has lavished praises on India for its endeavour in tackling the coronavirus pandemic.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Friday said that India has shown great progress as the dreaded virus cases are declining day by day in the country.

The Union government has told Lok Sabha on Friday that the country is witnessing a sustained decline in the number of cases reported daily since the reported peak in mid-September 2020.

Minister of State for Health Ashwini Choubey said in a written reply that since the reported peak in mid-September 2020, India is witnessing a sustained decline in the number of cases reported daily.

According to the Union Health Ministry data on Friday, India’s COVID-19 count crossed 1.08 crore with 12,408 more people testing positive for the infection in a span of 24 hours, while the recoveries surged to 1,04,96,308.
