Weather Update: Southwest Monsoon To Reach Odisha In Next 48 Hours 

Bhubaneswar: The Southwest Monsoon is likely to hit the Odisha coast in the next 48 hours, informed the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar.  

As per reports, the monsoon would hit the state by June 17. There was a delay in the arrival of the monsoon.  

Notably, the pre-monsoon rainfall has already begun in various parts of the state as Balasore received 54 mm, followed by Keonjhar (21.6mm), Daringibadi (20mm), Paralakhemundi (18.6mm), Angul (18 mm), Jajpur (14mm), Nayagarh (13.2mm), Nuapada (8mm).  

Adding to it, a yellow warning has been issued for thunderstorms with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Malkangiri, Koraput, and Nabarangpur from 8.30 AM of June 15 up to 8.30 AM of June 16.
