Bhubaneswar: While Odisha is reading itself to brace Cyclone Yaas on May 26, a red warning has been issued for 12 districts of the state.
Alert has been sounded for Balasore, Bhadrak Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar districts that will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall. Similarly, extremely heavy rainfall will be seen in districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak & Kendrapada.
Besides, the Balasore district administration has also issued high alert for Cyclone Yaas and has advised people to keep drinking water ready for at least four days. On the other hand, those who are living under thatched houses have been advised to move to nearby cyclone centers.
As per the ace oceanic research institute of India, INCOIS, which is under the control of Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, the Landfall of Cyclone Yaas will take place in the morning hours on May 26 in West Bengal bordering very close to Balasore.
Even weather scientists at Accu Weather predicted that the cyclonic system will make landfall between north Odisha coast of Balasore and Haldia in West Bengal.
The India Meteorological Department had earlier predicted that during the landfall of Cyclone Yaas, wind speed is likely to be up to 185 kmph till May 26 afternoon.
