Malkangiri: With the rise in water level in the rivers due to heavy rains triggered by low pressure in the Bay of Bengal, vehicular communication between Malkangiri and Kalimela has been snapped as flood water submerged the Kangurukonda Bridge.
According to reports, in Malkangiri district’s Poteru, M.V. 90, M.V. 96, Kangurukonda, Kanyashram, Pangam, Tarlakota, etc., the flood has brought vehicular movement to a standstill.
Since the water level is rising due to heavy rains, especially in the plains of the district, all preparations have been completed by the district administration including food and shelter for people in case of evacuation from low-lying areas.
Fire & Rescue personnel and all other administrative officers and staff are also on alert and monitoring the situation.
