Sambalpur: A B.Tech 2nd-year student of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) was allegedly ragged and thrashed by his seniors on Friday night.
The matter came to fore after the victim, named Manash Singh, lodged a complaint at Burla police station in this regard.
As per the FIR, Manash along with this friends had gone to Kirba Chhak last evening at around 8 pm, during which six of his seniors were present at a shop in an inebriated state. They called Singh and asked him whether he knew their names or not.
As he couldn’t tell their names, they thrashed him by punching his face, neck, back and other parts of body, he alleged.
The victim later informed his family members about the incident and approached the Burla police station.
Based on the plaint, police have registered a case and launched a probe into the incident.
