New Delhi: Hockey India exclusively organized a virtual walk-through of the Hockey India Member Unit Portal for a group of journalists through Google Meet on Wednesday, 16 September 2020.  A total of six journalists attended the event to understand how the Portal helps Hockey India and its Member Units to manage all their important documentation, registration of players, player transfers, national championships, Hockey India Coaching Education Pathway, registration of coaches and technical officials. The Hockey India Member Unit Portal is a major step towards going paperless and making data easily accessible. All the activities carried out by all Hockey India Member Units are documented on the Portal.

Hockey India launched the new and custom-built application the “Hockey India Member Unit Portal” in September 2019 which has enabled Hockey India registered Member Units to shift from a manual system to a digitalized system for registration of players, coaches and technical officials, online application for Temporary and Permanent Player transfers, managing documentation for National Championships including Team Entry form, submission of participation fee etc. Recently, Hockey India announced further improvements in the Hockey India Member Unit Portal with the introduction of an open application and registration process for Coaches and Technical Officials.

Through the virtual walk-through of the Hockey India Member Unit Portal conducted by Hockey India, the journalists had a fantastic opportunity to get a first-hand experience about how the Hockey India Member Units utilize the platform to submit documentation and maintain communication for National Championships, quickly access profiles of any hockey player at any level in the country and transfer players from one Member Unit to another in a digitalized manner.

Going forward, Hockey India is planning to introduce a section for information about the hockey facilities in various Member Units on the Portal. All the Hockey India Member Units will be able to share information about their hockey facilities on the Portal. Furthermore, Hockey India is planning to introduce an open application and registration process for players, just like the process for Coaches and Technical Officials.

Speaking after the journalists’ participation in the virtual walk-through of the Hockey India Member Unit Portal, Elena Norman, CEO, Hockey India said, “We are continually looking to develop the Hockey India Member Unit Portal. Everyone is moving towards paperless and we are a little ahead of the game since we started in September last year. The more we use the Portal, the more we realise that we can develop additional tools to make the Portal more user-friendly and assist in the management of the sport. The Member Units have adopted well to the Hockey India Member Unit Portal and they recognise how the portal is helping them run their units more efficiently.”
