Sundergarh: Violence erupted again in Sundergarh after two groups reportedly hurled stones at Regent Market under Town Police station limits on Tuesday.
According to reports, two groups hurled stones at each other this afternoon after a duel erupted between two groups over buying some contaminated grocery items from a shop.
Despite the strict deployment of police personnel, the two groups started hurling stones at each other, as a result, the cops had a tiresome time to bring the situation under control.
Sources said, two persons were injured and some vehicles vandalised during the violence following which one platoon OSAF and 3 platoons of police forces have been deployed at Regency Market, Gandhi Colony, Masjid Pada, and Mohanty Pada areas to control the law and order situation.
Sundergarh SP Soumya Mishra also reached the spot to take stock of the situation. She also urged people not to indulge in violent activities. The situation turned normal after the SP assured that stern action will be taken against the culprits.
“The dispute that took place yesterday during the CAA & NRC rally by Congress in Sundergarh town area is a different one. Howeerv, the situation is under control now,” the Sundergarh SP said, adding that a meeting of peace committee has been called this evening to resolve the matter amicably.
Reportedly, SDP Madhuskita Mishra, Town PS IIC Bibhascha Pradhan, and other police personnel were also present on the spot.
