Violating lockdown norms to attract stringent action: Odisha DGP Abhay
Bhubaneswar: Odisha DGP Abhay has warned that those who are violating lockdown guidelines will be dealt with severely and added that 14 persons were arrested in this connection.
Talking to the media at Geet Govind Sadan here on Monday, the DGP said all the police stations in the state have been strengthened with the adequate deployment of police personnel.
He said over seven hundred sub-inspectors have been deployed in several police stations across the state and added that they are probationers at training institutes.
DGP Abhay said keeping in view of the law and order situation in the state during the lockdown as many as 162 platoons of police forces were posted at various police stations across the state. He said over 1000 vehicles have been deployed at various police stations for movement of troops.
DGP Abhay said the police have kept adequate vigil on the persons coming from outside and ensure that they are properly quarantined. As many as 221 cases were registered for violating lockdown orders in the past 24 hours, he said and added that 90 percent abide by lockdown guidelines while only 10 percent flout it.
He said over 1400 have been arrested and more than 1600 cases have been registered.
Odisha DGP Abhay said it is the responsibility of their family members not to go outside as they may contract the deadly disease if they don’t abide by the lockdown guidelines.
