Sundergarh: Irate people of Kurga village under Mahulapali gram panchayat in Sundergarh district today blocked the road demanding a ban on plying of sand-laden trucks through their village.
This had resulted in clogging of traffic on the village road since morning. No official has reached the village to take stock of the situation.
Reports said the villagers were upset with the matter that the hundreds of heavy vehicles laden with sand ply through their village and destroy the village road. The condition of their village road has worsened due to plying of sand laden trucks throughout the day and night.
Villagers of Kurga alleged that they have informed the administration on the issue, but none of the officials listened to their plight. Therefore, they decided to halt transportation of sand, the villagers added.
