Rayagada: Hatipadar village in Shibapadar gram panchayat under the Muniguda block in Rayagada district was declared a containment zone on Wednesday as 54 locals tested positive for Covid-19 recently.
The village has been sealed for the next 14 days to contain the spread of the virus.
Confirming the development, the district administration said that at least 100 swab samples were collected from the village. While 54 people among them, including 31 women and two children were tested positive for the deadly virus.
Meanwhile, essential medicines have been distributed by the team of the health department. Moreover, local BDO along with tehsildar and SDPO reached the village and suggested the locals remain in isolation.
Notably, at least 292 persons, including 90 from Muniguda block in Rayagada district were found positive for the infection in the past 24 hours.
