New Delhi: Vietnam Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh arrived in New Delhi late Tuesday evening for a three-day state visit aimed at further solidifying the long-standing relationship between the two nations.
“PM Phạm Minh Chinh of Vietnam is warmly welcomed as he lands in New Delhi for a State Visit. India and Vietnam have ancient civilizational ties and a deep-rooted friendship built on mutual trust. This visit is set to enhance our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership,” stated Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal in a post on X.
Prime Minister Chinh is slated to attend various programs and business events on Wednesday. He will be accorded a ceremonial reception at the Rashtrapati Bhavan’s forecourt on Thursday.
On the same day, he will pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat and engage in bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will also host a luncheon to honour the visiting delegation.
Additionally, Chinh will meet with President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar during his stay.
“Vietnam is regarded as a central element of India’s Act East Policy and a significant ally in our Indo-Pacific outlook,” the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed on Tuesday.
The rapport between India and Vietnam has been flourishing since the inception of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 2016 visit to Hanoi.
Prime Minister Modi has consistently emphasized Vietnam’s role as a crucial component of India’s ‘Act East’ policy and the Indo-Pacific strategy, aiming to broaden the bilateral ties, including the defence partnership, and to hasten the progress of ongoing initiatives.
