Valentine’s Day celebrations: Cops take protestors into preventive custody
Bhubaneswar: Keeping the promise of zero tolerance of harassment of couples during Valentine’s Day celebrations, police today took some protestors into preventive custody here in Bhubaneswar.
According to sources, the Commissionerate Police, that was patrolling at public places as per the directive by Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty, disrupted the protest held by Kalinga Sena workers in front of a city mall in Rasulgarh here.
In order to put a check on the ‘moral policing’ by the outfit, the members were taken into preventive custody. The outfit held a demonstration and raised slogans seeking to ban Valentine’s Day celebrations, sources said.
The Kalinga Sena had threatened to smear stinging nettle plants on love couples who they catch found celebrating Valentine’s Day and involved in indecent behaviour.
Notably, Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty on February 7, stated that no kind of harassment of couples will be tolerated during Valentine’s Day celebrations in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
