Uttar Pradesh in grip of cold wave, rail traffic disrupted
Lucknow: Cold wave has intensified across Uttar Pradesh on Monday.
Reports said cold wave accompanied by deep fog has also disrupted rail traffic in the state.
A number of trains were running behind the schedule. Fog was reported from most highways and outskirts of cities and towns.
The maximum temperature recorded in the last 24-hours was 21 degrees Celsius while the minimum on Monday as 5.4 degrees celsius.
Schools and other educational institutions in the state capital and some other places have been closed due to cold wave.
The weather officials said rains on Sunday has intensified the winter chill further. The Met office has predicted the winter chill would continue for the next few days.
State Met Director J.P. Gupta has informed that the fall of temperature was due to a western disturbance over the Himalayas.
