Washington: US President Joe Biden said America will confront China which it regards as the “most serious competitor”.
He believes that Washington’s leadership must meet the new challenge of Beijing’s growing ambitions.
Biden in his address at the State Department said his administration will take on directly challenges posed to the prosperity and security by China.
Biden said America is back and diplomacy is back at the centre of their foreign policy. American leadership must meet this new moment of advancing authoritarianism including the growing ambitions of China to rival the US and the determination of Russia.
Worthwhile to mention here that Biden has still not spoken with Chinese President Xi Jinping and the US ties with China remain tense.
Describing America’s allies are among “its greatest assets”, President Biden said he would engage adversaries and competitors diplomatically.
