US aircraft carriers in South China Sea amid India-China border stand off

Washington DC: The US has conducted military exercises over South China sea by sending two aircraft carriers into the disputed waters.

This comes at a time when China has flexed its muscle in the region.

Media reports said the US navy has confirmed that USS Ronald Reagan and USS Nimitz are conducting dual-carrier operations and exercises in the South China Sea to support a “free and open Indo-Pacific”.

The two combat carriers along with four warships will include round-the-clock flights testing the striking ability of carrier-based aircraft.

The US said it is committed to stand up for the right of all nations to fly, sail and operate wherever international law allows.
