Lucknow: As many as twelve people were killed in a gas cylinder explosion in Mau district of Uttar Pradesh on Monday.
According to reports, the impact of the blast was so strong that the two-storey house in Walidpur village where it took place was blown to small pieces. People in the area said that they heard a loud explosion and flames erupted from the damaged building soon after.
Till last reports came in, the exact number of injured persons was not immediately known. The rescue operation is underway and it is suspected that more could be buried under the debris.
Expressing grief over the incident UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the district officials to provide proper treatment to the injured. He said that all necessary help should be provided to the survivors.
