Rampur: Senior Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan on Saturday said that he is “treated like a terrorist”. He is currently lodged in Sitapur jail in a forgery case.
Khan said: “they (Uttar Pradesh government) are treating me just like a terrorist”.
The Samajwadi Party MP from Rampur, his legislator-wife Tazeen Fatma and MLA-son Abdullah Azam were sent to seven-day judicial custody over Abdullah’s alleged fake birth certificate after they surrendered in a Rampur court on Wednesday.
The next hearing of the case will take place on March 2.
Several other cases have been filed again Azam Khan on various charges including, land grabbing, encroachment, book theft, power theft, statue theft, buffalo theft and goat theft.
Khan and his family were chargesheeted under sections 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
