UGC’s Rajbhasha committee visits CUO to inspect official use of Hindi language

Koraput: As per the direction of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, the Internal Inspection Committee on Rajbhasha of the University Grant Commission (UGC) visited the Central University of Odisha on September 23 to inspect the use of Hindi language in the official works.

The committee was headed by Kishore Kumar, Education Officer of the UGC along with other two officials of the UGC-  Dayal Krushna Sharma and Manju Sanharwal. Prof S. K. Palita, Vice-Chancellor and Prof Asit Kumar Das, Registrar along with other officials of the University welcomed them in the University campus.

Prof Palita highlighted the works done by CUO where Hindi language has been used as mandatory and assured that the University will appoint a Nodal Officer/Hindi Officer by nominating from the existing staff for better promotion of Hindi language as soon as possible.

Kishor Kumar advised the University to use the Hindi language along with the English language in official noting, office orders, notifications, office records and official publications. They also advised organising educational competitions in Hindi and Hindi Pakhwada for promotion of the Rajbhasha. He demonstrated some of the easy methods for writing in Hindi by using different software available on websites.

Prof Das emphasised on the use of Hindi language in all the official works of the University. He said the Hindi software to be installed in all the computers of the University. He also assured that visible works in the Hindi language will be carried out by the University within a month.

The Committee visited all the departments and sections of the University and took stock on use of Hindi language. They also interacted with the staff, faculty members and students and advised to promote our Rashtriya Bhasha, Hindi in the University in teaching and in official works also. They appreciated the role of the Department of Hindi of CUO promoting the Hindi language while interacting with the students and faculty of the department.
