Two students dead after bus overturns on Mumbai-Pune Expressway

Mumbai: At least two persons were killed in a road accident after a bus carrying a total of 52 passengers, including 48 students, overturned on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. The accident occurred near Khopoli while they were returning to Chembur from ‘Wet N Joy Waterpark & Amusement Park’.

The two students who died in the fateful accident have been identified as Hitika Deepak Khanna and Raj Mahatre. All 48 passengers on board the bus are said to be injured.

According to preliminary information, the accident occurred after the driver lost control of the vehicle. With the help of local residents and police, the injured students were admitted to the nearest hospital. Some students are admitted to MGM hospital.

Sources said that the students attended Mayank coaching class in South Mumbai’s Chembur and they had gone to Khopoli for a picnic on Sunday.
