Two short-range missiles had hit Ukrainian plane: Iran

Tehran: The Ukrainian passenger plane was hit by two short-range TOR-M1 missiles on January 8, Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization has said on Tuesday.

The Ukraine International Airlines flight PS752 with 167 passengers and nine crewmembers on board crashed outside Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport shortly after takeoff.

Iran’s armed forces confirmed three days later that the airliner was shot down “unintentionally” by the military.

Tuesday’s development comes after Hassan Rezaifar, the Director General of the Civil Aviation Organization, said on Sunday that the crashed airliner’s black boxes were still in Iran.
