Two separate road mishaps claim four lives, injures over 30


Mayurbhanj/Angul: At least five persons were killed and over 30 other injured in two separate road mishaps in Odisha last night and Friday morning.

A head-on collision between a private passenger bus and an iron rod-laden trailer truck near Agaria bridge under Baisinga Police limits in Baripada of Mayurbhanj district claimed the lives of four passengers and injured 10 others critically late night on Thursday.

On being informed, local police and fire department personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the trapped passengers.

Four persons identified as Anindya Siddharth, Satya Ranjan Patra, Samaray Hembrom and Sukanti Soren died on the spot while the injured passengers were admitted to Pandit Raghunath Murmu Hospital.

Though police seized the truck, the driver and helper of the vehicle managed to flee soon after the mishap.

In another road mishap, over 20 passengers sustained injuries after the bus they were travelling in lost balance and skidded off road near Banarpal in Angul district in the wee hours of Friday.

Reportedly, the injured are undergoing treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
