Two Maoists gunned down in encounter in Ch’garh

Malkangiri: Two Maoists, carrying cash rewards on their heads, were reportedly killed in an exchange of fire between the rebels and security forces in Chhattisgarh on Saturday.

The slain militants were identified as Malangir LOS member Lachu Mandabi and Gumiyapal janmilitia commander Padua.

According to sources, Special Task Force (STF) along with District Reserve Guard (DRG) personnel carried out a combing operation following a tip-off about the presence of Naxals at a forest near Kutirm village in Dantewada this morning. During the operation, the militants opened fire on them.

In retaliation, the security personnel gunned down two Maoists.

Police have reportedly recovered the bodies of the slain Maoists while several arms and ammunition have been seized from the encounter site, informed Dantewada SP Abhishek Pallav.
